Being at the forefront of technological innovation, we have developed a series of software tools
to enable screen printers to maiximise effectiveness in their day to day operations.
The Moire calculator is the first of such tools.
Installing and using the MacDermid Autotype Moiré Modeller
This is a powerful and complex piece of software for those who are seriously interested in the
science of moiré. It uses powerful 2D-Fourier Transform techniques and therefore only runs
well on modern PCs with fast processors and plenty of memory.
It is provided below as a simple Zip file which you can unzip into a convenient folder and run
directly by double-clicking on Moire.exe.
Note, the program is written using the Microsoft .Net (r) programming system.
You need to have the .Net Framework running on your PC. Most modern
PCs have the Framework installed. If the software doesn’t run then you can download the
Framework (2.0 or later) from the Microsoft website (see link below).
The program does not interact with the Registry or install any dlls in other folders. It is not copy
protected. For those who have to download and install the .Net (r)Framework, you should know
that Admin privileges are required. Consult your IT department if you have any concerns.
The best starting point for understanding the software is to read the free booklet published by
MacDermid Autotype which itself uses the software. The parameters for the examples are
provided as “mefs” (moiré example files) which you load from the software.
The program’s Help file provides further assistance.
The author, Professor Steven Abbott, welcomes challenge from those involved in the debate
on moiré issues. Feel free to contact him about the software and to discuss any technical issues.
This software is distributed in accordance to our standard Terms and Conditions (see below)
